When you just say “I am a DESIGNER”, what do you mean?
Let’s look at a definition…
A designer is a worker with a certain set of skills to conceptualize, plan and create visual solutions for various purposes. Designers work across various disciplines and industries, applying their expertise to address specific needs.
With that definition, it is not good to just say “I am a DESIGNER”. You have to specify what kind of Designer you are, here are some common types of Designers and their respective are of focus:

Graphic Designer: Graphic designers specialize in creating visual content for print and digital media. They design layouts, logos, illustrations, infographics, posters, advertisements, and other visual elements to convey messages, promote products or services, and engage audiences.

Web Designer: Web designers focus on designing and creating user-friendly, visually appealing websites. They use their knowledge of design principles, user experience (UX) design, and web development technologies to create website layouts, navigation structures, and interactive features that enhance usability and aesthetics.

UI/UX Designer: UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) designers are responsible for designing the user interface and user experience of digital products and applications. They ensure that digital interfaces are intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing by conducting user research, creating wireframes, prototyping interactions, and conducting usability testing.

Product Designer: Product designers specialize in designing physical products and consumer goods. They work closely with engineers, marketers, and other stakeholders to conceptualize and develop products that meet user needs, functional requirements, and aesthetic preferences.

Interior Designer: Interior designers focus on planning and designing interior spaces such as homes, offices, retail stores, and restaurants. They consider factors such as space planning, functionality, aesthetics, and safety regulations to create environments that are both visually appealing and functional.

Fashion Designer: Fashion designers create clothing, footwear, and accessories for consumers. They conceptualize designs, select fabrics and materials, create prototypes, and oversee the production process to bring their designs to life. Fashion designers often stay updated with current trends and consumer preferences to create designs that resonate with their target audience.

Industrial Designer: Industrial designers focus on designing products, equipment, and systems for mass production. They combine artistic creativity with engineering principles to develop innovative and functional designs for products ranging from consumer electronics to furniture to automotive components.
Overall, a Designer understand goals. That is the first step to designing anything: ask “why are we doing this?”. If the answer isn’t clear, or isn’t clear to you, or just doesn’t exist, you can’t design anything. Stop working.
